A series circuit is when electrical components are connected in line one after the other. If people represented electrical components connected in series they would be standing in a line holding hands.
A parallel circuit is when electrical components are connected in parallel to each other. To use our people example again, all right hands would touch and all left hands would touch to complete a parallel circuit.
